Intro to Lightroom Mobile & The Best Features

Lightroom Mobile is the perfect companion to the desktop Lightroom app. With an Adobe CC account you can sign into Lightroom Mobile and view, edit and share your photos from anywhere, as well as capture new photos and add them to your catalog.

I am surprised how often I talk to professional photographers who subscribe to Adobe CC and use Lightroom but don't take advantage of LR Mobile.

LR MOBILE OVERVIEW:

Mobile access to synced photos and collections
Ability to edit photos using most of Lightroom's develop tools
Flagging and Ratting tools
Export to phone
Built-in camera that saves RAW photos to your desktop catalog at folder of your choosing.

LINK YOUR CC ACCOUNT

If you are a CC subscriber you have access to LR Mobile’s cloud services
Log into your account in Settings under Lightroom Mobile
Download the LR Mobile app

HOW TO SYNC PHOTO TO LR MOBILE

To the left of a collection name there is now a small check box
Checking the box, syncs that collection, confirmed by a double pointed half arrow
Start with one small collection
Get familiar and confirm sync is working
Large collections take a while to sync at first
Currently smart collections are not supported 😭
New collections offer a checkbox to auto-sync collections

LIGHTROOM MOBILE SETTINGS

Import allows the option to write copyright data
Share Metadata allows for export metadata control

Long press in develop mode shows the original image before edit
2-finger swipe on shows clipping mask

LR MOBILE SPOT HEALING WITH PS FIX

First download “Photoshop Fix” from the app store
Photoshop Fix lets you open your LRMobile photos and make clone and spot heal adjustments and save back to LR Mobile.
PS Fix edits are based on the size of the smart preview which is smaller than original.

EXPORTING PHOTOS

You can save your photos directly to your phone
Or you can open photos in another app.

If you desperate for your presets there is a work around to Adobe’s built in Preset fart factory
Create a new synced collection.
Add a photo and create a bunch of virtual copies, apply your favorite presets
Open in LR Mobile and copy settings
